Returning the Torah

i a aa a aS) ea al desires His commandments with all his might. His offspring will be heroes in the land, a blessed generation of noble people. Wealth and richness will be in his house, and his righteousness will stand firm forever. A light shines in darkness for the noble-hearted; for one who is compassionate, loving and righteous. It is good to be such a one as shows compassion and lends to those in need; one who arranges justly all that he does. For such a man will never be shaken — a righteous person is remembered forever. He need never be afraid when bad news comes; one who trusts in the LorD may have a steady heart. His heart will be steadfast and will not fear, till that time when he shall see his tormentors overcome. He is generous, he gives to the destitute — and his righteousness will stand firm forever; his horn will be raised in honor. The wicked man who sees it will grind his teeth in anger and be gone. Any urge of such a person comes to nothing. The Torah scroll is bound and covered. In some congregations, during the week before a yahrzeit, “God, full of mercy” on page 850 is said. The Ark is opened. The Leader takes the Torah scroll and says: bon Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is sublime. Ps. 148 The congregation responds: jt His majesty is above earth and heaven. He has raised the horn of His people, for the glory of all His devoted ones, the children of Israel, the people close to Him. Halleluya! As the Torah scroll is returned to the Ark say: alalie ab A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s and all it contains, the Ps. 24 world and all who live in it. For He founded it on the seas and established it on the streams. Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not taken My name in vain, or sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD, and just reward from God, his salvation. This is a generation of those who seek Him, the descendants of Jacob who seek Your presence, Selah! Lift up your heads, O gates; be uplifted, eternal doors, so that the King of glory may enter. Who is the King of glory? It is the LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them up, eternal doors, so that the King of glory may enter. Who is He, the King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory, Selah!
