The land shook and quaked, the foundations of the heavens trembled and shook from His anger; smoke rose from His nostrils, consuming fire from His mouth; coals flamed from Him. And He bent the heavens and descended, heavy mist beneath His feet; upon a cherub He rode, He flew and appeared on the wings of the wind. He placed darkness as pavilions around Him, glooms of water, clouds of the sky; from the brilliance before Him, fire-coals flamed. The LORD thundered from heaven, the High One sounded His voice. He sent down arrows and scattered them, lightning and stunned them; channel-beds of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were revealed — from the LORD’s rebuke, from the force of breath from His nostrils. He reached from the heights, He took me, He drew me out from a mass of waters; He saved me from my strong enemy, from my haters who were mightier than me: they overtook me on my day of calamity, but the LORD was my stay: He brought me out to an open place, He delivered me — for He delighted in me. The LORD has rewarded me, according to my merit, according to the cleanness of my hands He has repaid me; because I kept the ways of the LORD, and was not corrupted away from my God; all His laws are before me and His statutes; I will not turn from them. Ihave been faultless before Him, and have kept myself from sin; the LORD has repaid me according to my merit, my cleanness before His eyes. With the constant person, You are constant; with the faultless hero, You are faultless; with the pure, You act with purity; with the perverse, You act with subtlety; an oppressed people, You save, and Your eyes on the haughty, humble them. You are my Lamp, LORD; the LORD illuminates my darkness. With You, I can run against a battalion; with my God, I can jump city walls.
