HOLINESS OF THE DAY Nav IBN You instituted the Sabbath, You favored its offerings. You commanded its specific laws along with the order of its libations. Those who delight in it inherit eternal glory, those who relish it merit life, and those who love its teachings have chosen greatness. Even before Sinai they were commanded with its proper rules. Then You, LORD our God, commanded us to offer on it the additional offering of the Sabbath in the proper way. On Shabbat Rosh Hodesh: HWM Long ago You formed Your world, completing Your work on the seventh day. You loved us. You favored us, raising us above all languages. You made us holy through Your commandments, brought us near, O our King, to Your service, and called us by Your great and holy name. You also gave us in love, LorD our God, Sabbaths for rest and New Moons for atonement. But because we and our ancestors sinned against You, our city was laid waste, our Sanctuary made desolate, our splendor exiled, and the glory gone from our House of life. We can no longer fulfill our obligations in Your chosen House, the great and holy Temple called by Your name, because of the hand that was stretched out against Your Sanctuary.
