BLESSINGS BLESSINGS ON MITZVOT In Israel on separating teruma and first tithe (if there is doubt as to whether the teruma and first tithe have been taken, the following blessing is not said, but the subsequent declaration is): Blessed are You, Lorp our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us to separate terumot and tithes. Whatever [of the allocated portion] is more than one in a hundred of everything here, is hereby declared to be teruma gedola [the priestly portion] and is the northern portion. The one in a hundred that remains here, together with nine equal portions on the upper side of this produce are declared to be the first [levitical] tithe. The one in a hundred I have made first tithe is hereby declared to be terumat ma‘aser [the tithe-of-the-tithe set aside for the priests]. Nine other equal portions on the lower side of the produce are declared to be second tithe, but if this produce must have the tithe of the poor separated from it, let them be the tithe of the poor. In Israel on separating and redeeming the second tithe (if there is doubt as to whether the second tithe has been taken, the following blessing is not said, but the subsequent declaration is): Blessed are You, Lorp our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us about the redemption of the second tithe. This second tithe, together with its additional fifth, is hereby redeemed by one peruta of the coins I have set aside for the redemption of the second tithe. On taking halla: Blessed are You, Lorp our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us to set aside halla from the dough. On redeeming fourth-year fruit: Blessed are You, Lorp our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us about the redemption of fruit of the fourth year. On fixing a mezuza to the doorpost: Blessed are You, Lorp our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us to affix the mezuza.
