the silent recitation of the Amida [1:17 רמ"א או"ח |. The Repetition of the Amida begins with the opening of the Ark, and the Shaliah Tzibbur says the Prayer for Rain (page 899). The Kohanim say Birkat Kohanim. After the Repetition, the service continues with Full Kaddish, and the conclusion of the service is as for Shabbat (page 623). * LAWS OF מַשִיב הֶרוּח 131 One begins saying מָשִיב הרוח in Musaf of Shemini Atzeret and continues until Musaf of the first day of Pesah שו"ע או"ח, קיד א] [. 132 If one forgets to say משיב הָרוּח in its proper place but realizes before beginning the words of the blessing ,מְחִיָה הַמָתִים one should immediately say הַרוּח 2wa and continue with the rest of the blessing. If one realizes the omission immediately after completing the blessing הַמָּתִים mn, one should say m7 22 and continue with the following blessing. If one realizes the omission after beginning the words ,אַתָּה קדוש one must repeat the Amida from the beginning או"ח, קיד: ו] yw]. 133 If one forgets to say nq מָשִיב but says Sym in (as is the custom in Israel, and that of Nusah Sepharad, in the spring and summer months), one need not repeat the Amida או"ח, קיד: ה] yw]. If there is doubt whether one said nz wa, the presumption is as follows: within the first thirty days from Shemini Atzeret, one should assume that one forgot to say mq wn. After thirty days, one should assume that one said nnn awa ([שו"ע או"ח, קיד: ח] 134 Minha: for Shabbat and Yom Tov. When Shemini Atzeret falls on Shabbat, the Torah is taken from the Ark and the beginning of ma1a7 nxn (page 1164) is read. After returning the Torah to the Ark, the Shaliah Tzibbur says Half Kaddish, and the congregation says the Amida for Yom Tov (page 817). Simhat Torah (23rd of Tishrei) 135 Candle lighting: Two blessings are said: (1) awovbw pdt, and (2) wnav. 136 Maariv: as for Shabbat and Yom Tov. The congregation says the special verse for Yom Tov (nvn 1371), before saying the Amida for Yom Tov (page 817). If Shemini Atzeret fell on Shabbat, the congregation adds the paragraph ותודיענו in the middle section of the Amida. 137 After Full Kaddish, the verses of ny1q7nx are said responsively (page 835). The ark is opened, all of the Torah scrolls are taken from the Ark, and the seven Hakafot are performed amid joyous singing and dancing. After completion of seven Hakafot, all of the Torah scrolls except one are returned to the Ark. The Shaliah Tzibbur takes the remaining scroll, and leads the congregation in saying

Shemini Atzeret (22nd of Tishrei) 121 Candle lighting: Two blessings are said: (1) טוב ov לְהַדְלִיק נָר שֶל and (2) ann. When Shemini Atzeret eve falls on Friday night, the conclusion of the first blessing is: טוב ov bw) naw bw .לְהְַלִיקנָר 122, Ma‘ariv: for Shabbat and Yom Tov. The congregation says the special verse for Yom Tov (vin 1211), before saying the Amida for Yom Tov (page 817). This is followed by Full Kaddish, Barekhu, Aleinu and Mourner’s Kaddish. It is custom- ary to conclude with the singing of Adon Olam or Yigdal. 123 When Shemini Atzeret eve falls on Friday night, Maariv is preceded by an ab- breviated version of Kabbalat Shabbat: Psalm 29, >a 3x, the first two and last two stanzas of 11135, nawa ov> yw vinta and way nies Jha יהוה (page 377). xu is omitted. ושמרו (page 407) precedes the Yom Tov Amida, which is said with ad- ditions for Shabbat. After the Amida, the congregation says הַשָמים >, and the Shaliah Tzibbur says the abbreviated Repetition of the Amida, and concludes as is customary on Shabbat eve. 124 When Shemini Atzeret eve falls on Friday night, Kiddush for Yom Tov is said with additions for Shabbat. 125 According to Hasidic custom, Kiddush is said in the sukka on Shemini Atzeret eve, while the rest of the meals are eaten in the house. 126 Shaharit: for Shabbat and Yom Tov (page 459).
